PORTRAITS

Heading 2

Everybody loves the oldfashioned charm of black and white photos. The lack of color reinforces atmosphere and emotions and adds lots of drama. This applies to photography as well as to drawing.

Graphite pencils are mainly used for doing sketches or doodles to develop ideas before the real artwork begins. But black and white drawings can be eyecatchers that don't rank behind color.

I prefer to do portraits with graphite pencil only, there are exceptions though. The focus is on the face, no distraction by background or color. Light and shadow shape the face like a human landscape coming out of the darkness.

In this category there are portraits of some very young as well as some faces that show the years that have already passed telling a life's story.

Enjoy your look around!
